Our History
The inspiration for Nature Isle’s condiments and sauces is rooted in the distinctive recipes that have evolved from the Caribbean’s rich culinary experience. Nowhere is that better exemplified than in the tiny village of Delices in Dominica – the Nature Isle of the Caribbean. This picturesque village, home of the Victoria Waterfalls, the White River and the world renown Jungle Bay Resort, is one of the last frontiers of a truly unique Caribbean culinary experience, where the authentic recipes have been passed on from generation to generation.
It is from this village that Dorian Etienne was able to take that experience and carry it with him when he moved to the United States. In fact, this cuisine is ingrained in his psyche, having from an early age been under the tutelage of his grandmas. According to Etienne “ While living in the United States, I would go back to the island on holidays and come back with bottles of mango pepper sauce, hot sauce, and chutney, or insist that friends who travelled home carry back those products for me. I would cook with these and invite friends over to enjoy. The reaction to this was always so positive that he began to dream of marketing these unique recipes and sharing the delightful Caribbean taste with the world.” His dream was realized in January 2001 when, along with family and friends, he formed Nature Isle Tropical Gourmet. From the first production of six products in June of 2001, Nature Isle has continually expanded its offering of wholesome sauces and condiments.
Natural, tropical, and balanced, the sauces create the path to a better way of living. They are all fruit-based and tease the taste buds with flavors of freshly harvested tropical fruits delicately blended with spices to complete the gastronomic experience. The products are of the highest quality and even though most are manufactured in the US, care is taken to capture the aura and exuberance of the island life in every taste. Already, the products are available in several stores throughout the United States.
